Monselice Castle
|
This medieval walled town of ancient origins, has always represented the ideal "gate" between the Euganean Hills and the plain towards the rivers and the sea. Beautiful monuments, such as the Cini Castle, the ancient Cathedral, the medieval stronghold (mastio) and numerous other religious and civil buildings, witness the rich and complex past of Monselice. The impossing Cini Castle, also called Cà Marcello, was built in the 13th century as a fortress, and later enlarged by Ezzelino da Romano and by the Da Carrara and Marcello families. It was magnificently restored by Vittorio Cini, who added his precious collections of arms and furniture. |
