Padua
The Paduan Tourism
Thermalism, urban tourism and religious tourism: these are the three main points of success of the Paduan tourism. The Euganean Spas, the art treasures scattered throughout the territory and the Basilica of st. Anthony have always been the three main factors of attraction of the Paduan province. PADUA is one of the most famous Italian art cities. It is ancient and at the same time very dynamic, with an important role as functional capital with the dimensions of a medium European metropolis. The city centre boasts a wealth of fine medieval, renaissance and modern architecture; here a fascinating mix of historic and new, of centuries-old traditions combined with metropolitan rhythms creates a unique atmosphere. The medieval palaces, churches and cobbled streets emanate a sense of history and culture, the shops, markets and locals, a sparkling vitality and vibrant modern life. Padua is both a city of culture (art, history, events) and a city of business (exposition trade centre, financial centre, economic enterprises), a city of science, research and technology and a city of professional education for young people (it has one of the biggest urban campus in Europe).
Padua is world-wide famous thanks to the presence of St.Anthony’s Basilica, which attracts millions of pilgrims every year. The religious tourism plays an essential role all over the Paduan province. The religious heritage is rich: the Basilica of St. Anthony, the Basilica of St. Justine, the Sanctuary of St. Leopoldo Mandic, the Praglia Abbey, and the Antonian Sanctuary in Camposampiero are only some of the great sacred shrines of the Paduan territory.
