Montegrotto Terme archeological site

This area was certainly an area of great public spas. Three excavations have uncovered important facilities including a spa which was destined to diving. It seems that all around its perimeter there was a colonnade; a spa with a circular plan with two buttresses that suggest a domed roof; another pool a little over 30 m separated from the previous by some service rooms, and it was in a building with an apse on each of the short sides and a niche that opened to the east; a nymph, a monumental fountain with spaces for study and rest; a thaeter or Odeon : (first century BC), a place destined to musical or poetry auditions, had a maximum capacity of 700 to 800 people, with wooden roof, built entirely of brick and stone covered with marble and stucco. The pit has a diameter of 28 m, punctuated of 11 rows of seats accessible by a central ladder and two lateral.

On the top there is a rectangular structure that can be attributed to a small temple or at a forum reserved for privileged spectators.
