MUSEO NAZIONALE DELL'INTERNAMENTO

MUSEO NAZIONALE DELL'INTERNAMENTO

The Internment Museum, managed by the Associazione Nazionale ex Internati - Federazione provinciale di Padova, has been established in 1955 in Padua, near the Unknown Interned Temple that, since 1953, preserves the mortal remains of the Unknown Interned, awarded with Gold Medal of Military Valour to the Memory. The Museum through photographs, antiques and original documents, shows the sacrifice of more than 600.000 Italian soldiers interned in German Lagers between September 1943 and April 1945. In particular wants to remember the over 40.000 soldiers who didn't enlist in the Army of the Repubblica Sociale Italiana and preferred to die in order to honor their vows. The museum also houses an interesting library with many books related to the internment and generally on the deportation in Nazi Lagers.
