This charming Villa was built in the XIV century by the noble venetian family Contarini degli Scrigni as hounting and party house during summer and the harvest period. The Villa's position is magic, right next to the medieval walls of Este's castle, thought to impress and surround the visitor in an surreal atmosphere out of space and time.
The architect of the main building is Vincenzo Scamozzi but the complex was enlarged in the 17th century with the construction of the "Secret Garden", unique example of combination between italian style garden and the 16th century Persian Gardens still visible in Iran.
The rooms at the first floor, decorated with frescoes, and the vast garden were used by the noble Contarinis for several centuries and are now shared by the owner, still living in the Villa, as wedding and holiday location. Frequently, artistic and cultural initiatives are organized as the Villa keeps it´s central role in the promotion of the territory and its excellences.
