MOCENIGO PALACE

MOCENIGO PALACE

During the second half of the sixteenth century the Mocenigo family, became the owner of the Castle of Este, promotes the co nstruction of the residence within the fortified enclosure: the home, which backs onto the walls of the medieval complex, it is on two floors and presents at the main floor archivolted windows with frames of rustic ashlar and stone balustrades. Three halls of the main floor present seventeenth-century frescoes with mythological and allegorical subjects within false architecture: the attribution of paitings is debated, among the possible authors mentioned by critics figure Giulio Carpioni, probably helped by Emilian painters of the time. Today the building houses the colections of the National Museum of Este.
