On Palladio's trail: from Montagnana to Monselice

Palladio, the great genius born in Padua, he didn't left work in his city, though, to him was given the tomb of Luigi Visconti to the Basilica of St. Anthony and it has been documented its technical advice for the construction of the Mocenigo Querini-Nievo Palace (now home of the Meneghetti student), while in the Padua area he has designed , around 1560, the Villa Cornero in Piombino Dese and Villa Pisani in Montagnana, both with gabled porches with overlapping columns and no outbuildings.

The Renaissance city of the first half of the '500 is almost entirely preserved, for a circuit of about 11 km. With 20 bastions and six gates.

Padova Carrarese

In 1318 Giacomo Da Carrara started the political rise of the family becoming Defender and General Captain and thus paving the way for the Carrarese Lordship, that will endure, except for some brief interruption, until 1405. The Lords Da Carrara will be announced Princes and in the century of their rule they will engage to give the city a more modern, vibrant ad elegant look, making it one of their major European capitals of the fourteenth century.
