From Padova to the Venetian Villas along the Brenta Riviera

Preferred by Casanova, Galileo, Byron and D'Annunzio, painted by Canaletto and Tiepolo, described by Goethe and Goldoni, the Brenta Riviera hosted the French and Russian Royal Families, Napoleon, the Hapsburg, the Savoy stayed there. Eminent architects, such as Palladio, Scamozzi, Frigimelica and Preti designed summer residences for the Venetian nobles and patricians. br>
Some shipping companies starts their journey in Padova. Under nine swing bridges and through five locks, allowing the descending of an almost 10-metre hig water slope, the trip will end in Venice, St. Mark square.

Through the lock at Noventa Padovana, the Tronco Maestro of the Brenta River and the lock at StrĂ , the journey continues to Villa Pisani, emebblished by Tiepolo and Guarans' frescoes. After the visit, the trip goes on along the Brenta Canal, passing beyond Villa Soranzo of Fiesso wi, Villa Angeli by Scamozzi, the 16th century Old Mills, the lock at Dolo.

Another lock at Mira allows the boat to descend a 2-metre high water slope and to thus continue the journey among various villas like Villa Widmann and Villa Barchessa Valmarana. At Malcontenta, the traveller can admire the elegant Villa Foscari, also called La Malcontenta.
