The second of the three weeks that make up the Padova Jazz Festival will conclude with the now habitual and highly followed musical matinée at the Sala Rossini of Caffè Pedrocchi. Here, on Sunday, November 16 at 11:30 AM, Sara Longo (vocals and live electronics) and Alvise Seggi (double bass and cello) will perform in concert. Their “Mystery Tour – Beatles in Jazz” starts as a tribute to the music of the Fab Four before also venturing into a fully jazz repertoire.
The album Mystery Tour (2025) by the Italo-French singer Sara Longo and the Venetian double bassist and multi-instrumentalist Alvise Seggi is not just a refined and innovative tribute to the music of the Beatles, reinterpreted with a personal and delicate style. The lineup also includes notable original compositions and works by other authors beyond the Lennon-McCartney duo: incursions into the music of Carla Bley, Mercedes Sosa, and Count Basie create a surprising stylistic alternation between Mississippi blues and Mediterranean swing. And while on the album Longo and Seggi surround themselves with numerous collaborators, live they bring the project into the purest and most essential dimension of the voice-double bass duo (with optional electronics and cello).
The Padova Jazz Festival is organized by the Cultural Association Miles chaired by Gabriella Piccolo Casiraghi, in collaboration with the municipal and regional administrations, with the contribution of Bosco Costruzioni and Volksbank, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
