Along the Po. The journey of music

The 2026 “Scatola Sonora” concert season promises to be very interesting, especially due to its inaugural event: a symphonic concert featuring exceptional artists and program.

The Padua and Veneto Orchestra, one of the most important ensembles in Italy, collaborates with Barco Teatro to present to the public not only two absolute gems of the classical repertoire – Fauré’s Pavane and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 – but also to interpret the national premiere of Along the Po, a new composition for chamber orchestra and 10-string guitar.

Written by Giacomo Susani, the piece was commissioned by the University of Colorado Boulder and is the first composition for 10-string guitar and orchestra ever composed; it was performed with great success in world premiere in Boulder (Colorado) in December 2024 with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra and both Nicolò Spera and Giacomo Susani conducting. It is a very evocative piece capable of projecting the listener into a naturalistic and dreamy dimension, which fits well in completing a program of great suggestion.

The composer will intervene during the evening to introduce his composition to the audience.
