Inauguration Friday, January 9 at 5:30 PM

The Sala della Gran Guardia hosts the solo exhibition of Gaia Perotto, a young Lombard artist, who presents a cycle of twenty works dedicated to an unprecedented meeting between Greek mythology and informal abstraction. The exhibition, promoted by the Cultural Department of the Municipality of Padua, is curated by Enrica Feltracco and Massimiliano Sabbion.

As suggested by the title “Where the sky ends, everything burns. Myth in the Informal,” the artist draws from the great Hellenic myths – from Hecate to Prometheus, from Aphrodite to Icarus, up to the tales of the Moirai and the Titans – reinterpreting them not in a figurative form, but through the vigor of matter, color, and light. The works, often identified in the title by deities or mythological figures, suggest themes of transformation, ardor, fall, rebirth, and destiny. The use of natural pigments, earths, minerals, and precious materials amplifies the archaic and sacred dimension of the canvases, which seem to emerge from a primordial time. The monumentality of the Sala della Gran Guardia welcomes and amplifies this search, creating an environment where myth, memory, and pictorial gesture intertwine.
