On Friday, April 24th at the Cinema Lux in Padua, the show “Men or Contractors” will take the stage, an intense monologue that addresses a highly relevant and urgent social issue: the exploitation of migrant workers.

At the center of the narrative is the story of Jasnoor, a young man who arrived from Punjab with the dream of building a future in Europe. Throughout his journey, the show brings to light a reality often invisible: that of men and women employed in Italian fields, trapped between debts, blackmail, and difficult living conditions. A story that speaks of hope and disillusionment, but also of dignity and resilience.

The voice of this tale is given by Francesco Stella, the author and performer of the show. Stella stands out for his ability to transform on stage, embodying over ten different characters and alternating narrative styles and points of view. His theatrical work is often oriented towards social and civil issues, with particular attention to stories on the margins and the dynamics of power that traverse contemporary society.

“Men or Contractors” is a production by ASCS, Scalabrini Agency for Cooperation and Development. ASCS promotes cooperation, inclusion, and awareness projects, aiming to protect the rights of migrants and foster a culture of welcome and solidarity.
