Having started studying the cello at just 5 years old, at 14 Eleonora Testa was admitted to the Accademia Stauffer in Cremona and, in the same year, to the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. She is currently continuing her training at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. Her concert career also began very early: at twelve, she was invited by Giovanni Sollima to perform at the Ravenna Festival, and as a soloist with orchestra, she has participated in numerous festivals and concert seasons. She has also given recitals in important venues and has won numerous national and international competitions, including, in 2020, First Prize at the Janigro Junior Competition in Croatia. Alongside her solo activity, she dedicates herself particularly to chamber music. Since 2025, she has been a member of the Trio Fenice, a group through which she explores the great chamber repertoire.

The program selected for the concert on September 10, spanning from baroque music to that of the twentieth century, will highlight all of Testa’s virtuosic technical and interpretative qualities. One of J.S. Bach’s famous six suites for solo cello, the Suite No. 2 in D minor BWV 1008, will be performed. This will be followed by two pieces from the 1920s, the Sonata op. 25 No. 3 (1922) by Paul Hindemith and the Sonata in C minor op. 28 (1923) by Eugène Ysaÿe. The concert will conclude with a classic of the solo cello repertoire, the Sonata by György Ligeti, written between 1948 and 1953.
