It is estimated that there are around 60,000 university students in the city, and at least half of them use bicycles to get around; and the same means of transport is used by at least 30% of the city\u2019s inhabitants, who number around 212,000.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\">In the golden years of cycling, Padua was also home to two of the giants in bike production: Cesare Rizzato at <b>Atala<\/b> (whose over ten different makes included \u2018Lygie\u2019, \u2018Maino\u2019, \u2018U.Dei\u2019 and \u2018Ceriz\u2019) and Federico Torresini at <b>Torpado<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\">It is also a well-known fact that<strong> thousands of cyclists visit Padua, both to see its cultural and artistic treasures and to enjoy its cycle routes<\/strong>. There are a large number of these, and they are suitable for all kinds of cyclists: the river circuit; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parcocollieuganei.com\/itinerari-dettaglio.php?id_iti=3709\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Euganean Hills circuit<\/a>; the stretch of the <a href=\"\/?p=11455\">St. Anthony Walk<\/a> that runs along the Muson dei Sassi; the tour around the \u2018walled cities\u2019 of the area, which takes in Padua, Monselice and Este; the Rural Padua route along the course of the Bacchiglione; the itinerary from the Bacchiglione to the Brenta, which runs from Vicenza to Venezia; the Salt Road and the Sugar Road routes that run from Padua to Chioggia; the cycle route along the former <a href=\"\/?p=10643\">Treviso-Ostiglia rail line<\/a>, which allows you to cycle to Treviso in complete safety; the Via del Brenta, from Padua up to Trento; the Via degli Estensi, from Padua to Ferrara.<\/p>\n<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"532\" src=\"https:\/\/www.turismopadova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/francesco_carraro2.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.turismopadova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/francesco_carraro2.jpg 882w, https:\/\/www.turismopadova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/francesco_carraro2-600x399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.turismopadova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/francesco_carraro2-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption>Foto di Francesco Carraro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\">For our itinerary, let\u2019s choose <strong>the Euganean Hills circuit<\/strong>. Starting from Padua (Bassanello), you ride along the Lungargine dei Barcari embankment that follows the course of the Battaglia Canal; after 5 kilometres, this brings you to <a href=\"\/?p=6148\"><strong>Villa Molin<\/strong><\/a> (a masterpiece designed by Vincenzo Scamozzi) and after 8 kilometres to <strong>Castello del Catajo<\/strong> in Battaglia Terme. A further 8 kilometres along the canal brings you to <strong>Monselice<\/strong> and then <strong>Este<\/strong> (+10), <strong>Baone<\/strong> (+4) <strong>Cinto Euganeo<\/strong> (+2), <strong>Lozzo Atestino<\/strong> (+3), <strong>Vo&#8217; Vecchio<\/strong> (+6) <strong>Bastia di Rovolon<\/strong> (+7), <strong>Cervarese Santa Croce<\/strong> (+5), <strong>Treponti di Teolo<\/strong> (+2). Here you can either choose to return to Padua, via Tencarola di Selvazzano (the shortest route), or continue via the <strong>Abbey of Praglia<\/strong>, <strong>Torreglia<\/strong>, <strong>Abano Terme<\/strong> and <strong>Montegrotto Terme<\/strong>, back to Villa Molin and along the Battaglia Canal embankment.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\">This magical route \u2013 which takes you <strong>through a landscape of hills, watercourses, villas and magnificent vegetation<\/strong> \u2013 gives you the feeling of cycling through an enchanted world.
