Lorsqu\u2019un ancien sarcophage contenant un squelette fut mis au jour en 1274, le po\u00e8te padouan Lovato de\u2019Lovati l\u2019attribua imm\u00e9diatement au h\u00e9ros troyen. Par cons\u00e9quent, une arche a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite pour l\u2019exposer \u00e0 la ville et prot\u00e9ger la s\u00e9pulture des intemp\u00e9ries. <\/p>\n

Lovato a pris soin d\u2019inscrire son nom dans l\u2019histoire de Padoue en faisant construire pour lui-m\u00eame un sarcophage similaire, \u00e0 placer \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de celui du mythique anc\u00eatre de tous les Padouans. Il ne se doutait pas qu\u2019en raison du bas-relief repr\u00e9sentant un chien sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 du sarcophage, celui-ci serait surnomm\u00e9 par les Padouans \u00ab le tombeau du chien d\u2019Ant\u00e9nor \u00bb.<\/p>\n

L\u2019\u00e9tude des restes a prouv\u00e9 qu\u2019il s\u2019agissait d\u2019un guerrier d\u2019origine hongroise mort entre le IIIe et le IVe si\u00e8cle apr\u00e8s J.-C. Bien qu\u2019il n\u2019y ait aucune preuve de l\u2019existence d\u2019Ant\u00e9nor, les d\u00e9couvertes arch\u00e9ologiques dans la r\u00e9gion confirment l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des V\u00e9nitiens entre le XIIIe et le XIe si\u00e8cle av.
