Tuesday 25 February 2025, at 5 pm, at the Italian-German Cultural Institute, a conference on the music of Franz Schubert, followed by the performance of the Fantasy “Wanderer”, a joint project between the Friends of Music of Padua and the Italian-German Cultural Institute. The meeting is dedicated to the presentation of the recent monograph on Schubert written by Claudio Bolzan, author of numerous essays on musicology and an expert in musical German studies. In this latest work, Bolzan has managed to combine Schubert’s biography with his extraordinary stature as a brilliant and innovative musician. What emerges is a fascinating, very rich and complex picture that highlights the links between Schubert and the romantic literature of his time and the political reality of Vienna at the time of the Restoration. Following this, Massimiliano Vettore at the piano will perform one of Schubert’s most famous and also one of his most challenging compositions, the Fantasy in C major op. 15 D 760 “Wanderer”. The young pianist Massimiliano Vettore obtained the Academic Diploma of First Level in Piano at the Conservatory “C. Pollini” in Padua and is now continuing his studies at the Two-Year II Level. He has already obtained important achievements, such as the second prize at the International Piano Competition “Città di Minerbio”, the second prize at the “Maria Labia Prize” in Malcesine and the first prize at the International Piano Competition “Andrea Baldi” in Bologna.
