On Thursday 8 May, at 8.15 p.m. in the Sala dei Giganti at the Liviano, a concert by the Kandinsky Quartet, organised by the Friends of Music of Padua as part of the Festival ‘Avvicinamenti: dire e disdire il male’ of the Department of Linguistic and Literary Studies of the University of Padua.
Over the years, DISLL’s Third Mission project has become an important cultural event for the city, in which the Amici della Musica are participating for the third consecutive year.
The concert organised for this edition proposes a reflection on war, combining the performance of some of Šostakovič’s compositions with the reading of Russian poetic texts.
The concert will be introduced by Claudia Criveller, lecturer in Russian Literature at the University of Padua, and will then continue with the reading of poetic texts by Russian authors, by Barbara Boccasile, interspersed with the performance of Elegia, from Two Pieces for String Quartet of 1931 and Quartet No. 3 op. 73, composed by Šostakovič immediately after the end of World War II.
All the dramatic force of the music will make the war images at the centre of the poems even more evocative.
