From 4 to 27 October 2024, the Scuderie di Palazzo Moroni will host the exhibition Pezzo dopo pezzo. Personal exhibition by Anna Battaglia.
In the title of the exhibition lies the core of the artist’s work: Anna Battaglia, after creating the drawing and placing it on the plywood board, cuts out each individual piece with a jigsaw, sands it with sandpaper, colours it, and then reassembles it like a puzzle, piece by piece.
In fact, both the wooden paintings and the jewellery he creates require several stages of workmanship, a lot of study, patience and skill: painstaking work, which knows no hurry, and which the artist has perfected over the years in a continuous search for perfection and ever greater detail.
It is a world of dreamlike, fairy-tale and surreal scenarios populated by animals. With these joyful figures characterised by vivid colours, the artist wanted to evoke positive feelings, the carefree and boundless happiness of childhood.
The influence of architecture is also evident in Anna Battaglia’s works, especially in the more abstract and geometric compositions where some of the most famous monuments of her homeland, Veneto, are often represented.
A corner of the exhibition is dedicated to the artist’s goldsmith compositions, in which the oxidation of different metal alloys gives life to unique mosaics and refined colour combinations.
