Science starts from observation and the need to interpret the world. The first step to do this is to understand what you see from a qualitative point of view and try to measure its quantity. It is necessary to identify the quantities, in a work of description and definition of the elements that make up reality. A task that requires sharing a language, as well as a method. Once the quantities have been defined and measured, it is possible to investigate the relationships with which they interact, formulate hypotheses, make predictions and verify their reliability. Measurements help us discover new connections, identify errors and find the best path for the future. They tell us what our limits are and what our place is in the universe and on the only planet we have available.
The 2024 edition of the CICAP Fest aims to explore the concept of measurement under the different aspects that characterize it, from practice in the strict sense to what is not measurable, from measurement in everyday life to its social and cultural implications.
“Measuring the world” awaits you in Padua from 11 to 13 October, preceded as always by CICAP Fest Edu from 7 to 11 October with a schedule dedicated entirely to schools and teachers!
