On 7 December, at the Sala Verdi of Villa Obizzi in Albignasego, a show for everyone, designed to involve families by placing children and young people at the centre of the scenic event, who interact with the actors in the exploration of the Advent Calendar and Garland.
The word ‘Advent’ means ‘coming’ and is the period of preparation before Christmas: it begins four Sundays before the date celebrating the birth of the Saviour.
Two typical traditions of this period are the Advent Garland and the Advent Calendar.
The Advent Garland is a garland of evergreens, with four tall candles: each week one is lit, symbolising something… the Candle of Prophecy, the Candle of Bethlehem, the Candle of the Shepherds and finally the Candle of Angels.
The Calendar has twenty-four windows: one window opens every day, in the twenty-four days before Christmas.
Each day a little window, each little window a short story or a song. Small fragments: songs, songs, thoughts, poems, traditions… Small simple things, fragments of Christmas, looked at through the eyes of a child.
