Twenty cribs for a journey within the Christian tradition, but also of technique and art. From 9 December 2024 to 11 January 2025 in the Scuderie di Palazzo Moroni you can admire the works of the seventh edition of the crib exhibition organised by the Associazione Cammino ad Oriente, in collaboration with the Cultural Department of the Municipality of Padua.
The exhibition is divided into sections. The first exhibits various types of dioramas: magic boxes inside which an episode or event is told as if it were real. There is also a reference to the figure of Saint Francis and a section devoted to open nativity scenes, also known as round nativities, in which the views of the architecture become the protagonists to narrate the episodes of the Nativity. The third section pays homage to Spain and the Barcelona Nativity Association, linked to the Catalan school of plaster. The exhibition ends with a section focusing on the crib maker’s workshop. Here, visitors can see examples of set designs under construction, observing the techniques and different materials used over time.
This edition of the exhibition coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Associazione Cammino ad Oriente (Path to the East Association), founded and officially registered in 2014, after an initial formation of the group in 2008. The exhibition is intended to share with visitors the journey made in this decade. A period in which the nativity activities of individual members have been intertwined with moments of encounter, friendship and personal growth, not only from an artistic point of view, but also from a cultural aspect, with the intention of keeping the nativity tradition alive in Italy.
The exhibition can be visited every day from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. On 9, 16, 25 December 2024 and 1 January 2025 it will be open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Admission is free.
The opening will be held on 8 December at 3 p.m.
