The River Film Festival (RiFF) has reached its 19th edition with many events on the river staircase of the Piovego River.
From June 4 to 21, 2025, Porta Portello will become the most qualified stage in Italy for the best expressions of international short cinema, offering emerging talents an exceptional showcase to promote their works to the public and insiders. The floating screen on the waters of the Piovego five River, in the rain cove of the ancient medieval port of Portello in Padua, is now a recognized and appreciated “trademark”: accompanied by a growing interest first year.
It starts on Wednesday, June 4, with a special opening night.
There are nine categories in competition: Italian Looks, International Horizons (fiction), Film Schools, Animation, Documentaries, Queer Shorts, Virtual Reality, Anthropocene: Human Rights and Climate Change, Science-fiction and Fantasy.
Enriching the Festival are concerts featuring internationally renowned artists and collectives or exponents of lesser-known distant peoples, talks and training on Virtual Reality, Q&As, art exhibitions, conferences and initiatives created at major events.
As always, all RiFF events will be free admission. All screenings, divided by sections according to the competition schedule, will take place starting at 10 p.m., with the exception of the Virtual Reality section.
