Models to reproduce, models to design, research or teach… In their variety and diversity, models can build bridges between fields of knowledge, between cultures, between theories and reality, between teachers and students. In science, logical, mathematical, analogical, theoretical and imaginary models help to organise data and formulate hypotheses to explore the unknown. They are always perfectible or replaceable. Understanding models means understanding how science interprets and studies the world around us.
Funded by the University of Padua’s call for proposals that incentivises projects for the development of Third Mission and Open Science activities, the Modelli project is proposed by the Department of Physics and Astronomy, in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Engineering, the Department of Information Engineering, and the University Centre for Museums, with the support of numerous external partners.
The project focuses on Models as tools for research, learning, communication and inclusion, from the past to the present day. As part of the project, the following are proposed
– the temporary exhibition Modelli. Knowledge in three dimensions
– the theatrical performance Caravanserai
– a series of seminars: From model to application
All seminars and theatre performances are free of charge with reservation on Eventbrite. Bookings will open 15 days before the event.
The exhibition will be open from 11 May 2025 to 3 May 2026, and can be visited on museum opening days, Sunday afternoons, until 8 June and then again from September 2025. In May 2025, free guided tours are planned.
On the occasion of the exhibition opening, admission to the museum is free from 11 May to 8 June 2025. Visiting hours until 8 June: Sundays from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
