Byrd and the English Motet: Renaissance Masterpieces from the Golden Age of Polyphony in England.
This program traverses the music written by William Byrd, one of the leading Renaissance composers in Europe, and by some of the English Renaissance masters over a two hundred year period, and includes the medieval-sounding pieces of Sheryngham, the intricately woven polyphonic works of Tallis and Mundy and the beautiful simplicity of Tomkins. (O. Park) The Gesualdo Six is an English vocal ensemble made up of some of the best singers in the UK and is directed by Owain Park.
Praised for their imaginative programming and impeccable vocal fusion, the ensemble formed in 2014 for a performance of Gesualdo’s Tenebrae Resposoria in Cambridge and have gone on to perform at numerous major festivals across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
