The Imago Mundi Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Padua and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Padua, presents Out of Place. Art and stories from refugee camps around the world, an exhibition that brings together the testimonies – visual and narrative – of 264 artists who live or have lived the refugee experience. The exhibition will be open from 9 June to 31 July 2025 in two locations in the heart of Padua: the Roof Garden of Palazzo Moroni (until 30 June) and the Ancient Courtyard of Palazzo del Bo (until 31 July).
The exhibition stems from research conducted in 18 of the world’s major refugee camps and presents over 280 works in the 10×12 cm format, the stylistic hallmark of the Imago Mundi Collection. A video installation and further materials reflecting on the current global scenario of forced migration complete the exhibition.
Out of Place offers an unprecedented look at the artistic production that arises in contexts of marginality and transition, overturning the conventional narrative: refugees not as an indistinct mass, but as individuals bearing unique stories and visions. The exhibition is curated by Claudio Scorretti, Irina Ungureanu and Aman Mojadidi and is under the patronage of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
