IMPROVISATION THEATRE REVIEW AT THE TEATRO AI COLLI

Now in its sixteenth edition, “C’è Una Volta” (Once Upon a Time) confirms its status as a staple of Padua’s theater scene. Organized and curated by the CambiScena cultural association, the series will bring six original performances to the stage of the Teatro Ai Colli at Via Monte Lozzo 16 in the fall of 2025. These performances are original by nature and definition: in improvisational theater, every performance is original. Actors, actresses, and audience members participate in the creative act of the present moment, presenting a different performance each time. Hence the name of the series: “C’è Una Volta” (Once Upon a Time); and each one is unique and unrepeatable.

“The choice of shows was born from a simple question: ‘What happens when history is unwritten?'” The common thread that unites the shows is not a theme,” says Claudia Gafà, co-artistic director with Paolo Facco of the “C’è Una Volta 2025” series, “but the present moment, the unique instant in which the performance takes shape. Improvisational theatre thrives on and thrives on the here and now. By its very nature, each show is different each time it is performed, and therefore, by its very essence, it exists only once. We are proud to present unique shows, staged by different companies and casts, including our own, Compagnia CambiScena.”

All performances in the “C’è Una Volta” series begin at 9:00 PM, with the exception of the double performance of “L’Inedito di William Shakespeare” (comedy at 6:30 PM, tragedy at 9:00 PM, reduced-price single ticket).
