The construction history of the Basilica and its treasures of art and faith in a unique journey between the Thirteenth and Seventeenth Centuries

An extraordinary evening visit to the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua, an opportunity for those who want to discover and appreciate in a different way the treasures housed in one of the most singular buildings of Italian medieval architecture. You will have the chance to enjoy this unique place in an equally unique atmosphere, given by the basilica being closed to the public.

During the visit, you will be able to admire up close the bronze works of Donatello, usually difficult to appreciate from the nave, along with the reliefs by Bellano and Briosco, who also created a magnificent Easter candlestick. This will also be an opportunity to see the Deposition located at the back of the main altar, also by Donatello. Another highlight of the visit is the cycle of frescoes executed by Giotto, Altichiero, and Giusto de Menabuoi. Not only is it a moment to savor this immense artistic heritage, but also to immerse yourself in the faith experience that inspired the creation of such an architecture, a treasure chest of works of art of immeasurable value, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2022.

The spiritual component of the visit, essential for fully understanding the significance of these works in their context, will emerge particularly when the journey touches the Chapel of the Ark with its nine marble high-reliefs, then passing through the Chapel of the Madonna Mora, to reach the Chapel of the Treasure or the Relics.
