The Pastoral Care of Art at the Shrine (PAS) for the upcoming autumn on the dates of Friday, 17/10, and Friday, 14/11 at 20:45 presents “The Nights of Donatello at the Shrine,” a new guided tour among the masterpieces of the Florentine artist.
You will get to know Donatello’s works at the Shrine through his voice and that of his sculptures housed in the presbytery of the Basilica. You will meet Todeschina, the daughter of the Gatteschi, and her husband Antonio of the Counts of Marsciano, witnesses of the life of the leader Gattamelata and the creation of his cenotaph. The master sculptor Donatello will also be revealed through the original plasters of Camillo Boito that were made in the nineteenth century and which remain unpublished, still kept in a location of the Antonian complex inaccessible to the public.
