The ideal tour for those who have already taken part in a basic guided tour, to deepen their knowledge of the Basilica del Santo through works of art created between the 19th and 20th centuries. This historical period is only touched upon in traditional guided tours due to time constraints, but on this particular occasion, accompanied by a friar from the basilica, in addition to a historical and artistic interpretation, it will also be possible to gain a deeper understanding of the iconographic programmes in terms of their theological and spiritual significance.
In addition to the novelty of the tour, which approaches the art of the basilica in an unprecedented way, there is also the opportunity to see the frescoes of the Casanova cycle by climbing up to the choir loft, a position from which you can also take in the entire presbytery, the Boito altar with Donatello’s bronzes and the choir behind it, with a truly unique perspective.
