Do you want to know the history of the roots of our city? Padua. We are waiting for you Sunday, October 19, at 5 PM at the Auditorium of the S. Gaetano Cultural Center on Via Altinate.
La Vecia Padova is organizing the theatrical event “RAPSODIA PATAVINA, history and legend at the origins of the Urbs Picta“. There will be moments of singing, dancing, music, readings of poetry and stories to retrace the history of the City from its origins to the 1920s.
PROGRAM
The first part of the evening will open with a moment of theater and dance: Padua between history and myth. The protagonist will be the Goddess Reitia, worshipped by the ancient Veneti. As the story goes: there was a moment in ancient history when the Patavini and the other Veneti were attacked by neighboring peoples: Celts, Insubri, Cenomani, but also Etruscans and even Greeks from the sea. The Goddess was invoked to protect her people. In Padua, there was an ancient Temple dedicated to Reitia which, probably, later became the Temple of Juno, perhaps at the site of the church of S. Andrea. In this Temple, the arms and armor of Antenore, the Father of the Fatherland, were to be kept.
Dances curated by the Gesture Dance School Marina Soligon and Elena Baggio.
Narrative voice Ester Viviani Giaretta. Acting Lorella Bertolini. On the piano Franco Moro.
The second intervention will be by Dania Maniero who will read a text by Andrea Colasio “The Urbs Picta precursor of modern art”. Traveling through history, we will arrive at the 1700s, a period when Mozart arrived in Padua. Not everyone knows that Mozart was in Padua; here he is placed on the quay of Portello! In the Rapsodia, the musical symbolism of Mozart and Hoffenbach will be illustrated, proposing some of their most famous romances.

In memory of M.ro Riccardo Drigo, a great composer from Padua, nicknamed the “Musician of the Tsar,” his famous piece known worldwide “Serenata” from “The Millions of Harlequin” will be played, sung, and danced.
