The greatest playwright in world literary history on one side; and theatrical improvisation on the other. In between, an evening, two never-before-seen performances, a theater, and The Company of the Unseen, with the special evening of the There Was Once 2025 festival, dedicated to William Shakespeare and his works. On Saturday, October 25th, the Teatro Ai Colli in Padua (via Monte Lozzo 16) will host on its stage the double performance of “The Unseen of William Shakespeare“. The “unseen” will therefore be two, to showcase the two sides of Shakespearean works: comedy, starting at 6:30 PM, and tragedy, at 9 PM.
But why are the performances called “unseen”? The answer lies in theatrical improvisation, with which The Company of the Unseen will bring to the stage “the rules” and the poetry of Shakespeare’s works, explaining them to the audience during the first act, and then improvising two original plays (one for each performance), inspired by the Bard himself. This is edutainment, meaning education plus entertainment: it is the mode through which The Company of the Unseen, the operational arm in the educational and theatrical field of the Fifth Cover project (promoted by the Mestieri del Palco cooperative), will present the two Shakespearean interpretations.
The promoter of the special evening is the CambiScena cultural association, curator of the There Was Once 2025 festival, which has now reached its seventh edition this year.
For this evening with double performance, it will be possible to purchase a single ticket for viewing both shows for €16 (with reservation) or €20 (without reservation); €10 for the reduced ticket – university students, minors under 15 years, members of Improteatro, Teatro a Molla, Rabbit Hole, Eiteam – while the ticket is free for persons with disabilities (plus one companion) and minors under three years (if they do not occupy a seat). For the ticket to only one of the two performances, the prices remain the usual for the other shows of the There Was Once festival: €12 with reservation, €14 without reservation, €7 for the reduced ticket.
