Veneto Books presents:
The Coastal Route by Boat – Wednesday, November 26, 8:30 PM – Lega Navale Padova, Via Vigonovese 65/bis
Author Gianluca Marcon presents “The Coastal Route by Boat. From Venice to Trieste on Inland Waters,” published by Mare di Carta.
The Litoranea Veneta is a network of waterways built by the Serenissima Republic at the height of its splendor. A waterway system of approximately 127 kilometers (68.5 km in the Veneto Region and 58.5 km in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region) that connects the Venetian lagoon to the Isonzo River via artificial canals, rivers—the Sile and Piave, the Livenza and Lemene, the Tagliamento and Stella—and the lagoons of Caorle, Marano, and Grado. The waterway offers the traveler a highly varied panorama: fascinating natural views populated by local fauna, beaches, farming and fishing villages, cities of art, and seaside towns. A world of brackish waters, silence, riverside villages, and mostly natural canals that wind through land and lagoon areas, where water meets land among salt marshes, river bends, and ports. This thousand-year-old itinerary is narrated and illustrated by the author himself, who traveled it by boat, with the aim of providing yachtsmen with a useful and comprehensive guide to navigation.
Promoted by the Veneto Publishers Association with the support of the Veneto Region, Veneto Books. Widespread Review of Publishing Culture is an initiative open to all, consisting of a series of events throughout the region presented by Veneto publishing houses. The event features meetings and book presentations—with the participation of institutional figures, authors, publishers, scholars, and journalists—held in institutional venues, bookstores, but also in informal settings or online platforms. These events give voice and space to the region’s diverse cultural expressions and current issues, offering opportunities for reflection and debate on topics worthy of attention and exploration.
