The Gringolts Quartet returns to Padua after 10 years, on Tuesday, December 9 for the Friends of Music Season at the Pollini Auditorium. The concert will also feature the participation of two established soloists and chamber musicians, American violist Lili Francis and Swiss cellist Christian Poltéra. The program includes Sextet No. 1 Op. 18 by Brahms and Verklärte Nacht by Schönberg: a program that combines two great composers who held each other in high regard.
The ensemble formed for this concert includes musicians who enjoy significant acclaim in international musical life, both in concert settings and in recordings. The Gringolts Quartet (founded in 2008) is a meeting point for four artistic personalities coming from diverse cultural backgrounds and professional experiences, united by a common and strong passion for the string quartet. Lily Francis is an American violinist and violist currently living in Austria. In 2017, she was appointed professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg as a violin instructor. Christian Poltéra, who received the Borletti-Buitoni Award in the early 2000s and was selected by the BBC as a “New Generation Artist,” is now considered one of the most important cellists of his generation. He has a wide-ranging, award-winning discography to his credit.
Open rehearsal at 10:30 AM.
