Concert of pianist DÉNES VÁRJON, a cherished guest of the Seasons of the Friends of Music of Padua, Tuesday, January 27, at 8:15 PM at the Auditorium Pollini in Padua. Famous for his “elegant, passionate, and always highly impactful instrumental” interpretations (New York Times), possessing sensational technique and deep musicality, Dénes Várjon is regarded as a “universal musician” for the wide spectrum of his interests and one of the most interesting artists in international musical life.
By dedicating the concert on Tuesday, January 27 to the memory of the great Hungarian pianist Géza Anda (1921-1976), Várjon will perform the program that the then twenty-year-old Géza Anda presented for his graduation concert in Budapest in 1941. This is a very demanding program that starts with the Chaconne in G major by Händel and then moves on to the most beloved composers of Géza Anda. From Mozart will be performed the Sonata K 332, from Brahms the Three Intermezzi op. 117, and from Schumann the Toccata op. 7.
To conclude, the Sonata in B minor by Liszt will be performed, a musician who represented a living tradition for the Academy of Budapest. Such a program will not only revive an exceptional artist like Géza Anda and his artistic legacy but will also captivate the audience with the listening experience of some of the greatest composers in the musical landscape of all time.
Open rehearsal at 10:30 AM.
