TARTINI2020 – Tartinian explorations

2 MAY - 3 OCT 2026
Other

On Saturday, May 2nd, the new cycle of Tartinian Explorations organized by the Friends of Music of Padua will begin, now in its ninth edition this year. The first six events will take place on Saturdays in May and will conclude on June 6th, while the last five will take place in September, culminating with the concert on October 3rd.

Thanks to the collaboration of the guides from the Tartini2020 Association, it will be possible to discover new perspectives on the streets and squares, churches and buildings of Padua that still testify to the cultural legacy of the great musician Giuseppe Tartini, who spent much of his life in our city, serving not only as the first violin at the Basilica of Santo, but also composing and teaching the numerous students who came from all over Europe to study with the “Master of Nations”.

Each walk will conclude at the Church of Santa Caterina for the final concert. Here, the virtuosic sonatas for solo violin composed by Tartini in the later part of his life will be performed, along with contemporary works expressly commissioned by the Friends of Music for the occasion.

Introducing the program for all the concerts will be musicologist Angela Forin, who will connect the theme of the Exploration to the music being performed.
