The solo exhibition that the association Artists in Showcase presents from June 27 to July 5 at the gallery on Corso Vittorio Emanuele 32 in Padua is that of the Sicilian Laura Lorefice, a kindergarten teacher passionate about modern art and abstraction.
The same passion she puts into teaching guides her in the creative expressions she practices as a self-taught artist in photography, poetry, creating handmade jewelry with coral and natural stones, and most recently in abstract painting, which she began exploring in 2025.
To this aspect of her personality, she adds another: instinctiveness that, emerging from decisive and rapid brushstrokes, fills the canvas with lines that transform into many gazes, all to be discovered as they seek to hide among whirlwinds of thoughts. And then there are the colors that describe the moods of the moment, warming the schematic signs of black and white in the background.
Pure abstractionism, in which everyone can perceive faces and figures that evoke real or fantastical images. It is the magic of that common thread that unites us all, transforming the personal into the collective, where the artist communicates her being in the moment, always ready to reveal herself in constant mutation.
Laura Lorefice’s solo exhibition, titled The Gaze of the Soul, will be open to the public (free admission) on weekdays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
