Sunday, December 7, at 5 PM, the second concert of the ADVENT CONCERTS 2025, the free-entry organ concert series organized by the Friends of Music of Padua at the Church of St. Anthony Abate, at the Don Mazza College in Padua.
The concert has been entrusted to Andrea Piacentini, who studied organ, piano, and harpsichord at the Conservatorio di Brescia. He obtained a three-year diploma in organ and liturgical music, with a score of 110 with honors, and has been the organist since 2017 at the parish of Verolavecchia.
The concert program is quite varied. In the first part, music by one of the greatest composers of the Italian and European Renaissance, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, whose five hundred years since birth are celebrated, will be honored, featuring the performance of 2 Ricercari. Following this, the music of two classic composers for organ, Dietrich Buxtehude and Johann Sebastian Bach. The second part of the program is instead dedicated to twentieth-century Italian organ literature, with authors such as Bruno Bettinelli and Domenico Bartolucci, as well as contemporary music. In fact, The Color of Air, a piece commissioned by the Friends of Music of Padua from Iranian composer Ardavan Vossoughi, will be performed.
The concerts have been organized in collaboration with Collegio Mazza, and with the sponsorship and contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Padua – Department of Culture, and the Veneto Region.
