Rare gems from 18th century French works in the early music concert on Monday 25 November, at 8.15pm, at the Pollini Auditorium, as part of the 68th Concert Season of the Friends of Music of Padua. The protagonists of the concert are the violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte and the harpsichordist Justin Taylor. Both musicians trained in Paris and emerged on the international scene after prestigious awards. Théotime De Swarte was awarded in 2022 with the Diapason D’Or of the Year and, in the same year, the Ambassador of the Year award from REMA (European Early Music Network). After performances at prestigious venues in Europe, he made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2023, and made his first tour of Australia. He also combines instrumental work with orchestral conducting. Justin Taylor in 2015, at the age of 23, won First Prize at the coveted International Musica Antiqua Competition in Bruges, the Audience Award, the Alpha Award and the EUBO Developing Trust Award given to the most promising European musician. The concert program explores original compositions and transcriptions from the works of the brothers Louis and François Francoeur, active under Louis XV in the Opéra and the Académie Royale de Musique, together with harpsichord pieces by contemporary authors such as Royer and Couperin.
