On Sunday, November 30, at 5 PM, the opening concert of the ADVENT CONCERTS 2025 will take place, a free entry organ concert series organized by the Friends of Music of Padua at the Church of St. Anthony Abbot, within the Don Mazza College of Padua. At the organ keyboard, a special guest, the French Benjamin Alard, one of the greatest organists and harpsichordists of today. The concert’s program is entirely dedicated to the music of Bach, and the large neobaroque organ present in the Church of St. Anthony Abbot is particularly well-suited for the occasion, as its design closely follows the model of the German organ from Bach’s time.
The other three concerts of the series, all on Sunday afternoons at 5 PM at the same venue, will take place on December 7, 14, and 21. In addition to Bach’s music, works by D. Buxtehude, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-1594), whose 500th anniversary of birth is this year, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and other composers will be performed. The program also includes contemporary music, as per tradition, the Friends of Music of Padua have commissioned new works specifically for this series.
The concerts have been organized in collaboration with Collegio Mazza, and with the sponsorship and contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Padua Department of Culture, and the Veneto Region.
Tickets: free admission.
