MAT- Mare Alto Teatro APS presents for the “Dritti al cuore” Review:
BARABBA by Antonio Tarantino, with Silvio Barbiero – Sunday, November 30 at 7:00 PM
The Barabba of Tarantino can be found in the folds of everyone’s state of mind. His words echo in the protests that our fear strangles in our throats. Barabba is the ragged fury we hide from the eyes of others. He is the revolutionary we have always dreamed of and feared. In Tarantino, Barabba truly saves himself, our contemporary who wrote like a classic, universal and intimate. Barabba is the release, the irreverent laughter, a man lost in a thousand delirious and noble facets.
With “Barabba,” a work composed in 2010 and published posthumously, Antonio Tarantino, as in his debut dramas, returns to breathe new life into a character of evangelical lineage. Almost entirely in verse, in a merciless language without any rank privileges, where comedy and tragedy mix, the character of Barabba embodies a theater of emotions in which our need for salvation swings, like masks hanging from a thread, the angry nostalgia for a foundation, for an origin. He is Scatorchio turned Scarozzante for friends Barabba. Jesus Barabba to be precise.
