Conversations in the Academy is a new series of events organized by the Galileiana Academy and offered to the entire community with the aim of engaging the most diverse audience.
The third appointment will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 6:30 PM in the Guariento Hall of the Carrarese Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site; Zuleika Murat and Alessandro Metlica will discuss Visual Culture. For an Interdisciplinary Approach to Research in the Humanities.
The meeting proposes an interdisciplinary reflection on the concept of visualculture and the role of images between the Middle Ages and the modern age, based on the scientific experience of the two speakers.
The meeting will compare different methodological perspectives — historical-artistic and literary — to question the status of the image in its multiple declensions (devotional, political, courtly, identity), highlighting differences in type, function, and category of user.
The goal is to open a shared discussion on the epistemological value of visual culture as a cross-disciplinary field of research, capable of connecting art history, literature, anthropology, and sociology.
More appointments will follow: we invite the public to check the website and the institutional social media channels of the Galileiana Academy to stay updated on all cultural initiatives.
