Experimenting 2026

16 FEB - 29 MAR 2026
For kids

Twenty-fourth edition of the interactive science exhibition Experimenting. The exhibition will be open to the public from February 16 to March 29, 2026, in Padua, at the former slaughterhouse cathedral on via Cornaro 1, and is mainly aimed at primary and secondary school students.

As is tradition with the exhibition, the theme will be addressed from multiple perspectives. In natural sciences, discussions will focus on DNA, the code with which cells transmit information, and regarding the human body, attention will be given to how the brain functions in formulating and decoding language, the role of neurotransmitters, and the endocrine system. The exhibition will tackle chemical and visual communication in the animal world, also dealing with misleading codes and inaudible codes, how plants transmit signals, and what signals we receive from the past.

In chemistry, the exhibition will reveal how atoms bond to form complex structures, how molecules communicate with each other, and how this hidden language influences life, the environment, and technology. Through colors, sounds, scents, state and energy changes, chemistry translates into visible signals what occurs at the microscopic level.

In physics, various types of waves (sound, electromagnetic, seismic…) will be explored, along with their properties and transmission through different mediums. Different methods for deciphering information will be described, ranging from cryptography to spectroscopy.
