From January 19 to February 22, 2026, the Green Room of Caffè Pedrocchi in Padua hosts “Fishing for Images. Black&White” by Irene Sollazzo.
The exhibition features twelve photographs, selected from a larger body of reportage work, on the theme of fishing boats returning from multi-day fishing trips. The shots capture the quick activities of unloading fish, cleaning nets, auctioning the caught fish, and finally, the stillness of these iron souls that come to rest but continue to offer glimpses into their lives.
The photographs suggest a portion of reality seen through the lens of Irene Sollazzo; for her, photographing is about giving a place to fleeting stories that would otherwise be out of place or too peripheral to be noticed.
Irene Sollazzo is the author of narratives, photographic storytelling, and video reportage. She has also collaborated with numerous magazines and newspapers, publishing reviews on cinema and theater as well as articles on social journalism.
