Friends of Music – J. Leibovitz, C. Saluste-Bridoux, J. Havlat

JAN 20, 2026
Other

Italian debut of three extraordinary young musicians on Tuesday, January 20, at the Auditorium Pollini at 8:15 PM. The Israeli clarinetist Jonathan Leibovitz, the French violinist Charlotte Saluste-Bridoux, and the Australian pianist Joseph Havlat will be the stars of the concert scheduled for the 69th Concert Season of the Friends of Music of Padua. Different in origins and training, the three musicians are active in London and are supported by the YCAT (Young Classical Artists Trust) association, which specializes in promoting young talents.

The musical world of Central and Eastern Europe is at the heart of the concert program, and is the result of the three musicians’ interest in the intertwining of classical and folk music, with references to klezmer and other cultural traditions. The concert will open with the Trio by Paul Schoenfield (1947-2024), an American composer and pianist who cherished the fusion of folk and classical music, then move on to the Sonata No. 2 for solo violin (1958) by Polish composer Grazyna Bacewicz, to the Trio (1932) by Armenian Aram Chačaturjan, to Baladă și joc by György Ligeti, and to the Sonata for clarinet and piano (1945) by another composer of Polish origins, Mieczysław Weinberg. The program will conclude with Contrasts by Béla Bartók, the composition written in 1938 for Benny Goodman. An intriguing program that traverses genres and forms and will create a new, singular fresco of musical Eastern influences.

Open rehearsal at 10:30 AM.
