Tuesday, March 31, 2026, 8:30 PM

Following last year’s success, the Friends of Music of Padua have entrusted their special Easter concert to the vocal and instrumental group IRIS ENSEMBLE, directed by Marina Malavasi. On Tuesday, March 31, at 8:30 pm, at the Chiesa dei Servi in Padua, the large ensemble, consisting of the choir, four soloists (Anastasia De Bastiani, soprano, Silvia Vavassori, contralto, Alberto Allegrezza, tenor, and Alberto Spadarotto, bass), the Baroque instrumental group, and the organ, will perform two wonderful sacred cantatas by J. S. Bach: the cantata “Ich hab in Gottes Herz und Sinn” BWV 92, one of the longest and most complex cantatas written by Bach, and the cantata “Was mein Gott will, das g’scheh allzeit” BWV 111.

The Iris Ensemble performs concerts nationally and European-wide. Founded in 2007 as a female chamber ensemble, it later expanded into a mixed ensemble performing Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, collaborating with Roberto Loreggian and Nicola Lamon. It has performed with various orchestras and instrumental groups, including La Bottega Tartiniana, the Filarmonia Veneta Regional Orchestra, and the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto. It has promoted cultural exchanges with university choirs from many European countries, performing in Piran, Granada, and Fribourg. Director Marina Malavasi, throughout her long career, has led various choirs (Nuovo Coro Polifonico, Ensemble Dodecantus, Speculum Musicae), performing concerts in Italy and abroad. She has participated in the premieres of works by contemporary composers and has received numerous international awards, including for her recordings of Renaissance polyphony, the first modern performances. He currently directs the Cesare Pollini Children’s Choir and the Iris Ensemble choir.
