The traditional organ concerts organized throughout the year by the Friends of Music of Padua in the various churches of the city that house precious and ancient instruments resume on Sunday, January 18, at 5:00 PM, at the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate, Collegio Mazza, featuring the concert by organist Ruggero Livieri. The concert is in collaboration with Collegio Mazza and celebrates the feast of St. Anthony Abate.
On this occasion, at 4:30 PM, the concert will be preceded by a talk by Marzia Ceschia from the Theological Faculty of Padua dedicated to “Saint Anthony Abate between Arius and Nicaea“.
The concert will follow, with a program ranging from baroque music to romantic music, culminating in a contemporary composition.
In the opening, music by Dietrich Buxtehude and Johann Sebastian Bach will be performed, followed by compositions by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. The concert will conclude with the Partita on “Nun freut Euch” by Swiss organist and composer Lionel Rogg.
At the organ console will be Ruggero Livieri, who has had a long career in various Italian conservatories and is currently a Professor of Organ and Organ Composition at the Conservatorio di Rovigo, as well as the Principal Organist and Artistic Director of the University Chapel of Collegio Don Nicola Mazza in Padua.
