The route in Padua offers visitors the chance to discover, through the performing arts, one of the most famous Roman roads in northern Italy: the Via Annia. Created in Roman times as a trade route connecting the city of Aquileia with the port of Adria, over the centuries it became one of the most important communication routes in the area, used by different populations, traders and, more recently, pilgrims.
Route: Departure from the church of Santa Sofia with a brief visit to the church and introduction to the route, continuing along Via Altinate to Via Zabarella, then turning from Via Zabarella onto Via del Santo. Then arrive at Via Rudena, cross the river and pass through Via Luca Belludi, overlooking Prato della Valle, then pass through Via Umberto I, with the church of San Daniele, then Via Roma to talk about the ancient churches in that area (San Canziano, San Martino, Sant’Andrea), then continue towards the oratory of San Rocco where the route will end.
