The Galilean Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts in Padua will celebrate the Inaugural Assembly of the CDXXVII Academic Year, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Assembly Hall of the Carrarese Palace, which houses the frescoes by Guariento, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The solemn ceremony, which inaugurates the new academic year, will mark the beginning of academic activities for the 2025/2026 year.
The prestigious cultural institution is led by President Giovanna Zaniolo, the first woman to direct the Galilean Academy, alongside Vice President Gregorio Piaia and the governing body composed of the Secretary of the Mathematics Class Maristella Agosti, the Secretary of the Moral Sciences Class Cesare Dosi, the Librarian Giorgetta Bonfiglio-Dosio, the Administrator Alberto Mirandola, and the Conservator Vittorio Dal Piaz.
At the opening of the Assembly, President Giovanna Zaniolo will present the “Report on the activities carried out in the academic year 2024/2025” and will proceed with the delivery of academic diplomas to the new members.
Following this, at 11:10 AM, there will be the academic lecture “The Adventures of Tolerance. Genesis and Metamorphosis of an Idea” by Vincenzo Milanesi, a Full Member of the Galilean Academy.
The concert by Maestro Giacomo Dalla Libera dedicated to composer Domenico Scarlatti will conclude the morning. The program includes the performance of a series of sonatas on a Pleyel piano, model from 1894, fully restored years ago thanks to the contribution of the Cariparo Foundation.
