“Once Upon a Time” 2025 Festival
A Book’s Life – Saturday, November 22 – Teatro ai Colli – Padua
The new show by the Cambiscena Company
Every book tells a story… or perhaps two stories. There’s the written story, the one to be read, the one that flips through the pages of a tome and is told with words. And then there’s always another, unknown story, that supports the first with facts, and the life of the person who wrote that book, and how they did it, and why. It’s the story no one knows, the reality intertwined with fantasy, the two that become, in the theater, a single narrative made of phrases, gestures, and inspiration, in a unity that unites the author and his or her work: imagination with truth.
After a month-long hiatus, the improvisational theater of the C’è Una Volta 2025 series, curated by the CambiScena cultural association, returns. And it’s the homegrown company that’s picking up the thread, bringing a new show to the stage of the Teatro Ai Colli in Padua (Via Monte Lozzo 16, Brusegana area, at 9 pm). Making its world debut is “A Book’s Life”: the staging of the life of a never-before-written book. The actors and actresses of the CambiScena company will improvise on stage the plot that unites the life of a book and the life of its author, engaging the audience as usual in their inspiration and reflections. The result will be the writing, with body, voice, and interpretation, of a unique story, partly real and partly imagined, one that will never be repeated.
