With the artist who best represents young Italian jazz, the trombonist Matteo Paggi (winner of Top Jazz 2024 as the best new national talent), the Padova Jazz Festival enters the spaces of the University of Padua. Paggi will perform on Saturday, November 15 (at 9 PM) at the Aula Rostagni of the Department of Physics and Astronomy G. Galilei. He will be heard alongside other young talents who are already attracting attention: Lorenzo Simoni on sax, Vittorio Solimene on piano, Andrea Grossi on double bass and electronics, Andrea Carta on drums.
Paggi has the opportunity to express himself as a leader and does so with a quintet project whose title, “Giraffe,” is clever: the giraffe symbolizes foresight. In the band’s music, the mind is free to soar, to express itself with airiness and clarity. But alongside logic, there is also a strong dose of passion. It is on the basis of this vision that Matteo Paggi has written the compositions (all original) for the band, creating a jazz framework that welcomes influences from rock and melodic music, producing results of remarkable sound and rhythmic dramaturgy.
The Padova Jazz Festival is organized by the Cultural Association Miles, chaired by Gabriella Piccolo Casiraghi, in collaboration with the municipal administration and the regional administration, with the contribution of Bosco Costruzioni and Volksbank, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
